Even though the courthouse and other county facilities are open, please consider using mail, email, the internet, or just a phone call. This will help to avoid spread of the Coronavirus. Please use the list below to learn more. Thank you!

Pay property tax

  • Mail: Please send us your check and the tear stubs from the bottom of your Official Tax notices to the Codington County Treasurer’s Office, 14 1st Ave SE, Watertown, SD  57201.    If you are unsure about the amount due please call or email our office.  You can also use the online payment link just below to verify your tax amounts. If you send us a stamped self-addressed envelope, a receipt will be mailed to you.

Renew a vehicle license

  • Mail: Please send us your check and the renewal notice that you were mailed by the Division of Motor Vehicles to the Codington County Treasurer’s Office, 14 1st Ave SE, Watertown, SD  57201.  If you did not receive or can’t locate the renewal notices please call or email our office.

Apply for a vehicle title

  • Online/Phone/Mail: Complete and print the form at this link. Please call the Treasurer’s office to confirm the payment amount. Mail the completed form and payment to Treasurer’s Office, 14 1st Ave SE, Watertown, SD  57201.

  • Mail: Vital Record Request forms can be obtained on by clicking here under “Forms & Documents” (near the bottom of the page). Mail complete form with the appropriate fee to Register of Deeds, 14 1st Ave SE, Watertown, SD 57201.

Register to vote / Update your voter registration information

Request absentee (mail-in) ballot

View your sample ballot

  • Online: Voters may view their sample ballot for the by accessing the South Dakota Secretary of State website:  sdsos.gov. Enter your name and date of birth or zip code in the blanks provided. Click on the line for the specific election to see your polling place and a link to your sample ballot.

Appeal property assessment
