Zoning Functions or Duties:
The Planning and Zoning
Department is responsible for zoning administration and enforcement.
The department
serves three boards:

Codington County
Commission: The Commission approves plats and amendments to the
County's Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Zoning and Subdivision
Ordinances after recommendation from the Planning Commission.

Codington County
Planning Commission: This Board develops the Master Plan for
county development, reviews Site Plans and Subdivision Plans for new
developments, and proposes amendments to the Comprehensive Land Use
Plan, Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance.

Codington County
Board of Adjustment: Reviews specific cases involving the
application of the County's Zoning Ordinance-Conditional Use Permit,
Variances, and Appeals from Decisions of the Zoning Officer.
The Zoning Officer is
responsible for reviewing various plans and permit request and the
issuance applicable permits.
