Dave Schaefer is the handler of Sarge.

Sargent is a 3 1/2 year old scent discriminatory man-trailing purebred bloodhound.  Sargent was born in Texas and joined the Codington County Search & Rescue in 2004.  Sargent's K-9 Handler is David Schaefer, a volunteer member of Codington County Search & Rescue, a volunteer member of Hayti Fire Department, and Emergency Management Director and 911 Coordinator for Hamlin County.  Together, hound and handler have had some great training opportunities and have participated with TASK-Texas Association of Search K-9's and NPBA-National Police Bloodhound Association, Inc.

Adam Whiting is the handler for Hunz.

Hunz is a 4 year old Drathaar that has been trained in air scent.  He has been a member of the Codington County Search & Rescue K-9 team since early 2004.  Hunz was certified and received top dog honors at the 2004 TASK K-9 seminar in Jacksboro, Texas.  I have been training him since he was 8 weeks old and continue to train him.  Hunz has been involved in many missing person searches from the very young to the seasoned citizen

Terry Sorensen is the handler of Goldie

Goldie is a Verein-Deutsch Drahthaar, a German dog belonging to the rough haired pointers group, and is registered as a VDD.  Dr. Jack Wilson of Watertown, who actively breeds Deutsch Drahthaars, donated Goldie when she was 8 weeks old.  Goldie’s K-9 Handler is Terry Sorenson, a volunteer member of Codington County Search & Rescue. Goldie works in the field of human remains detection and can work scent above ground, hanging, buried, concrete, water, and ashes.  Goldie and Terry have been involved in several searches in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.  Goldie has had documented finds in training which has included drowning and murder cases.
